The City Amateur moves through Charlotte’s golf community before a final-round field of 24 competes for the championship.
The championship rewards consistent play across three demanding rounds. The low 24 finishers also secure an exemption into the following year’s event.
Eligible Mecklenburg County amateurs enter through qualifying or a recognized exemption.
After the opening round, the low 50 players and ties continue.
Round two narrows the field to 24 players, with no ties.
Sunday’s final round crowns the champion over 54 holes.
USGA Rules of Golf govern play, supplemented by local rules. Distance-measuring devices are permitted when slope is disabled. Collared shirts and Bermuda-length shorts are required; denim is not permitted.
Groups are expected to remain in position. The Committee may issue warnings, penalties, or disqualification when pace does not improve.
Daily cart fees and range balls are included in the entry fee. Caddies are not permitted under Model Local Rule H-1.1.
The Committee may adjust the schedule or competition format when weather or course availability prevents a round from being completed as planned.
